Marko Hakanpää
I am the organist of the parish of St. Michael in Turku, Finland, since 1998. I was born in 1970. I got my master of music's degree in 1996 and my soloist´s diploma in organ in 1998. After that, I have participated in a variety of courses and master classes.
As a special interest I consider the technique and construction of the organ. I have acted as consultant for the construction of new organs. For several summers I also acted as organ tuner at the International Organ Festival in Lahti. Now I am responsible for the maintenance of five funeral chapel organs in Turku, in addition to the three organs in my parish churches.
As organist I always explore unknown organ music, and perform forgotten gems.
My childhood dream was to become a locomotive driver. Since Summer 2017 I am a qualified locomotive driver.
